State Median Income Levels 2011 to qualify for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Listed by State

To qualify for chapter 7 bankruptcy you cannot make more money then what the feds call your Median Income Level. There is a means test which involves comparing your income to a family the same size as yours in your state.

If your income is lower then the median income for your family size, there is no "presumption of abuse" and you can typically file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

If your income is higher than the median income in your state, a more complicated calculation process is required to determine whether you can file under Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

Tip: Dont file bankruptcy unless you absolutely have to. It should be considered a last resort as it has serious financial and credit drawbacks. If you need help determining if you should qualify for bankruptcy, give me a call or visit my website http://www.CreditAgenda.com
