In understand. Yes, they can still try to collect. Remember the statute of limitations begins on the date of last activity. If the debt is truly passed the 6 years, they can still keep trying to collect until you advise them in writing that the debt is time barred. Even then they can pursue litigation and the burden of proof will be on your shoulders. It’s a flawed system, what can I say. Good luck to you!
