How Many Credit Cards Should One Person Have? I have been reading alot throughout financial advice forums and financial advice blogs and cant find the answer. Do some credit scoring companies look for more open credit cards then others? What is the ideal number of cards one peson should have to increase their credit score?

Ideally:

5 revolving accounts (credit cards)
2 installment accounts (loans or finance accounts)
1 auto (secured auto)
1 mortgage (mortgage secured)

This recommendation can change very quickly depending on your situation and variables on your your credit reports
