Items included in a bankruptcy length of stay on credit reports is determined by the discharge date. The actual public record item is usually reported in the public record section as opposed to the accounts section of your reports. Chapter 7 can stay for 10 years from discharge date. Chapter 13 stays for 7 years from discharge date. (This may stay for as long as 12 years because Chapter 13 bankruptcy is not complete until payment plan is completed)
