When you get divorced does a divorce decree override a legal agreement with a creditor? For example, if me and my wife owed debts together as joint account holders, when we were divorced (after she ran off with my mexican gardener to Tijuana) she never showed up for the hearing and the judge ordered responsible for all of our joint credit cards. Since then she never paid on any of them.
Debt collectors call all the time and I tell her to look for Melody Rodriguez in Tijauana. It was funny for awhile, unfortunately the other day I got a summons from Citibank to appear in court for the debt. Says I owe 11,000 dollars for a credit card she spent.. The 0only thing I have is a divorce paper from the court stating she owes it. What are my chances of winning?
