The debts should automatically “fall off” after 7 years
IF the creditors/debt collection agencies report accurate information, the problem is; they usually don’t and the debts may not go away so easy. But yes, it is very possible that if you dispute them and it’s been 7 years they will come off. About them pursuing you????……
Anyone can sue anyone anytime for nearly anything. The flaw in the system is the fact that even if the debts are old and past the statute of limitations, they can still try to sue you. If you don’t defend yourself, you lose and a judgment is born. The statute of limitations varies by agreement and state.

My opinion is, don’t start paying on them because that will keep them on your credit for an additional 7 years and restart the date of last activity on the statute of limitations for debt collection.
